Wound Care Center
Treatment of chronic wounds on the feet and legs requires both perservance and a variety of modern wound care options. Most important is the initial diagnostic evaluation as to the cause of the wound itself, whether it is arterial insufficiency, chronic swelling from venous disease or a decubitus ulcer from pressure injury. A combination of wound salves and special dressing types in addition to arranging home health care and physical therapy options allows the treatment of the vast majority of wounds with success. Just as important as healing the wound is preventing further breakdowns once the area has been healed. This preventative care may include special orthotic shoe fittings and continued surveillance through physician’s offices.
